Why drinking water helps weight loss

One of the simplest ways of stimulating weight loss and metabolism is constantly overlooked by many people. Water is one of the most important things that we can put into our bodies now! However, when you mention drinking water and its weight loss benefits, people either scoff or tell you that they hate drinking water. If you press them, they will then say they don’t think they can drink the amounts needed to facilitate the increase in metabolism needed to lose weight.

What most people do not realize is the importance that water plays in our diets. Our livers are responsible for breaking down fats in the blood stream and producing energy. This is the liver’s main function. It also assists the kidneys in removing toxins from the body. If the kidneys are deprived of water, the liver then has to step in and assist the kidneys in their role of elimination of wastes. This takes time and effort away from its main function. The liver has to work overtime in order to process the excess fat or it gets deposited into the bloodstream, on vital organs, even in the intestines. This process also leads to water weight gain as well.

Most people feel that it is not easy to get in all the water that they need in a day. The truth is that 64 ounces is needed by the body for someone who is of average weight. People who are 25 pounds overweight need to increase their water intake by 8 ounces to help to increase fat and toxin removal from the body.

A lot of people feel that drinking water is boring. There are ways to jazz water up so that its taste is more appealing if needed. Adding some fresh lemon or lime juice to your water will give it some extra zing. Try flavored waters to get some more variety and help you to get the amount of water needed by your body.

Another tip to heed here is to try to refrain from drinking a lot of caffeine drinks. They do contain water however, they also raise the blood pressure and heart rate which can put extra strain on the cardiovascular system. Large amounts of caffeine can even dehydrate the body as well. Ingesting large amounts of caffeine can lead to water weight gain in the tissues as well due to the high sodium content in most caffeinated drinks

Studies have found that drinking a glass of very cold water right before a meal can also reduce appetite and give the person a feeling of fullness after eating smaller amounts of food. So this is another benefit that can be gained from drinking more water. Water also has other health benefits such as giving skin a much healthier appearance and gives skin a much better tone all around.
