Weight Watchers Vs. Fitness Centers
For those of us that are trying to lose a few pounds we come to realize that there are a few different paths we could take to accomplish this goal. We can choose to take supplements, change our diets, exercise more, or try to find a little guidance. There are a lot of different weight loss plans out there to be chosen from. Some work while others may not. Two of the most popular methods of losing weight will be discussed right now. Whether joining Weight Watchers or a Fitness Center is more beneficial for you and your weight loss needs.
Let us start by comparing the benefits of both. With Weight Watchers you are given specific instructions on how to manage your diet. The Weight Watchers goal is mainly focused on changing eating habits from old to healthy. Weight Watchers has a point system that they use in order to track the amounts and types of foods you are eating in order to figure out your calories, fat and fiber intake. Keeping track of what you are eating is one of the hardest and most important factors in losing weight. Not only do they provide a lot of information but they also have support groups and an online website that can help you find information or support when you need it.
The main priority of a Fitness Center is to work on the opposite side of the weight loss spectrum. Fitness Centers are geared towards increasing the amount of physical activity you do to burn calories, tone your body and get fit. Some centers offer a personal trainer that can help you along your way and help you achieve the level of fitness you desire. With a Fitness Center there are all sorts of machines there for your access, including cardio equipment and weights for sculpting and muscle gain.
A negative aspect of joining Weight Watchers is that it does focus mainly on diet. Although this is a crucial part of losing weight and overall well being, exercise is also a very important part. If you lose a lot of weight through diet only, studies have shown that it can sometimes come from your lean muscle tissue and not from your body fat at all. Therefore, the pounds look lower on the scales but you are losing vital muscle in your body. The fat is remaining while the muscle is lessoning. This results in having a thinner body but not one that has any muscle tone.
With joining Fitness Centers you will maintain or build you muscle and with more lean muscle comes more fat burning. Although this can take time, it is a very healthy way of burning fat. The problem with the fitness centers is that often they do not seem inviting and if you go alone you will more than likely drop out of your routine within a few months. It is harder to stick to a workout plan when going at it alone. Also, do not feel that just because you work out a few days a week it is okay to eat whatever you want. More often than not we under estimate the amount of calories we are consuming versus the amount we are actually burning. No amount of exercise will ever turn unhealthy foods better for our bodies.
Overall, both systems can work individually but ultimately you could benefit from using both at the same time. Without exercise, dieting will not work long term and vice versa. You need to really incorporate both healthy eating and working out into any weight loss routine in order to achieve long lasting results.
