Weight loss tea
Herbal teas have been around for many years now. It has become very popular and extremely lucrative for companies to market weight loss teas to the general public. As the number of overweight and obese individuals in the US rise each year, the weight loss market will continue to be a very lucrative and profitable market for companies. So what is the real skinny behind weight loss teas. Well you might be surprised at some of the things that were found when doing research on the internet as to what was in some of the expensive exotically named teas that dieters can purchase. Some were nothing other than a strong oolong tea. Others were green tea which can be purchased at your local grocery store.
So what is a dieter to do? First and foremost read the ingredients of any product that you are thinking about purchasing. Then do your research. Find out if there are any clinical studies or other information to back the claims of the company selling you the product. Then decide if you want to spend your hard earned dollars on that product. There are good natural dietary supplements out there that do aid weight loss. It is up to the consumer to find them. As far as weight loss teas go, we were able to find information on some herbal teas that can help a dieter achieve their goals. These were not fancy or exotic and can be grown or purchased at a health food store and brewed at home for a fraction of the cost of those expensive teas you see on the TV or internet.
The first herbal tea that has been proven time and again to increase metabolism and aid in weight loss is green tea extract. It can be purchased in tea bags or in ready to drink form. Green tea has a lot of healthy benefits and it may be an acquired taste but you could get green tea extract as well. Even some yogurts have green tea extract in it. Green tea works pretty well because it can increase your energy level by about 5-7% in a healthy way. It is suggested that you implement green tea into your diet and have a few cups of it a day. There is caffeine in it so you may want to use it as a coffee replacement but you have to remember that the decaffeinated green tea loses potency because of the decaffeination process. Green tea has other health qualities that are beneficial to our body which include being an powerful antioxidant (just like acai berry). Green tea has also been shown to help to boost the immune system as well. So this is a good product to have and drink whether trying to lose weight or not. For weight loss it is recommended to drink one cup of green tea prior to each meal.
Green tea can help you with your weight loss attempt because it is thought that green tea is capable of speeding up the thermogenesis process and this will of course give your body that little bit of extra energy and also result in oxidization (of your body fat) to go through an increase as well. There are a lot of natural ingredients (plants usually) that are found to have similar characteristics and being able to do the same thing.
The main thing about the energy increase that is healthy compared to some other methods is that it does not increase your heart rate at the same time. See, a lot of diet pills on the market can increase your energy but it will also increase your heart rate and most people that are overweight or obese can’t go through something like that because they already have heart problems or are at risk (higher than those in healthy conditions) of getting a heart issue in the future from such activities occurring.
People overweight or obese have a better chance of having hypertension (or various other cardiovascular problems) and since green tea doesn’t actually increase your heart rate when consumed, it will make for a great option to include in your diet.
The next herbal tea that has been shown to help aid in weight loss is dandelion tea. Dandelion tea has been used for thousands of years by both the Chinese and Native Americans to aid in digestive problems and for issues with PMS and menstrual problems such as bloating and cramping. Dandelion tea boosts the bodies natural metabolism. It is also a natural diuretic as well. It helps to break down and dissolve body fats that are in the bloodstream. This tea has also been used to detoxify the body. To make your own dandelion tea, infuse 1-2 teaspoons of the leaves or roots in water. Use a tea ball or strain after infusing for 15 minutes. Drink hot or cold 3 times a day.
Both fennel and nettle seeds can be used to make a tea to reduce hunger and cravings during the day. To make the fennel tea infuse 4 teaspoons of the seeds in 3-4 cups of water. Bring the water to a boil and then steep for 15 minutes. Strain the liquid then refrigerate it. You may drink this either hot or cold. Add honey for sweetness if needed. Nettle tea can be purchased at most health food stores.
These teas are not designed to use for weight loss alone. They can however help a weight loss program which includes a sensible diet and an exercise program. They can boost your results and help you to achieve your goals much faster without any nasty side effects. Keep in mind that weight loss tea is not your one answer to a healthy diet and you can’t base a whole diet off of herbal tea but it is definitely a healthy addition if you wanted it in your diet.
You have to understand that there is no magically way to lose weight (healthily) and there are essentially only two ways of losing weight. Don’t get all excited about some fad diet or something because they usually don’t work, but if they do, one of the following methods will be included (probably not that obvious) in the diet:
- You eat less (whether voluntarily or with an appetite suppressant) and your calorie consumption goes underneath the amount that you burn naturally (or with exercise) every single day.
- You exercise more (probably eating the same or a little less) and your calories burnt will become more than your calories consumed.
Essentially, you lose weight from burning more calories than you consume so you have to keep that in mind. If you are just eating a lot and your natural calories burnt isn’t much (rather inactive lifestyle), you should probably expect a weight gain. If you are going around and always moving at work and go to the gym, as long as you keep your calories consumed under the calories you burn, you will definitely see a weight loss because of that.
The best thing that you could do is consume a little less (but still eat enough food healthily) and eat the right foods (very important because it goes a lot deeper than just calories) and in the meantime, you exercise as well. If you can do all of that, you will definitely see the results quickly but it is all a matter of dedication and motivation really.
In reference to weight loss tea, this could be good for you because it will give you more energy and making it a little bit easier to keep yourself active. Some people are naturally full of energy but others need assistance – try to stick away from energy drinks and such though. A lot of little things that help can work together and become a big assistance in your weight loss so don’t take anything, no matter how small the difference it makes, for granted.
