Vitamin B2 intake accelerates fat burning

Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is a water-soluble vitamin manufactured by biosynthesizing microorganisms and plants. Vitamin B2 is a precursor for flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and flavin mononucleotide (FMN), that are required in the enzymatic oxidation of carbohydrates, and thus is an essential nutrient for humans. Vitamin B2 deficiency may cause inflammation of the mouth and the mucous membrane of the pharynx, amblyopia, skin inflammation, conjunctivitis, growth inhibition, congestive eyes, anus fester, and weight loss. However, vitamin B2 cannot be biosynthesized in vertebrate including humans.
Vitamin B2 occurs naturally in liver, eggs, milk, leafy vegetables, malted barley, yeast, and many other sources. Small amounts of riboflavin are found in all plant and animal cells. In the animal cells it burns fat to avoid excessive fat storage. Riboflavin is the vital vitamin in the manufacture of nucleic acid used in cell division. Deficiency of either vitamin B12 or folic acid found in green leave vegetable such as spinach will result in anemia or block breath.
The reason why riboflavin is necessary in a weight loss diet is that riboflavin helps convert the stored fat into energy and promote the metabolic activity. However, obese people do not include liver or dairy foods in their diets, which results in deficiency of vitamin B2. The best resources of vitamin B2 in the American diet are milk products, liver, mushroom, spinach and enrich grains.
It is most in need of vitamins B2 during the weight loss process. Lack of this vitamin will produce counter-productive effect in fat loss. Therefore, it’s necessary to take vitamin supplements to make up for the insufficient intake.
An adult generally require 1.5 mg of vitamin B2 a day. However, in order to promote fat metabolism, it’s recommended that at least three times the amount of normal intake for obese people. This amount of intake is equally effective for people who can’t take greasy food because of gastrointestinal diseases.
