Phentermine diet pills

Phentermine diet pills are one of the oldest prescription appetite suppressants on the market today. They have been approved by the FDA for use as a prescription diet pill since the late 1950’s. The way Phentermine works is in the same manner that ephedrine works in the body. One of the big advantages that Phentermine has is the fact that it is the fact that it is so much less expensive than other prescription weight loss supplements on the market today such as Xenical and Meridia.
In the early 1990’s, Phentermine was combined with another weight loss drug Fenfluramine and this combination was called Fen-Phen. It became a very popular weight loss drug for doctors who prescribed weight loss supplements for their patients. In 1992 the University of Rochester did a study which showed that people who were prescribed Fen-Phen lost significantly more weight than those who attempted to lose weight using diet and exercise alone as weight loss tools. The FDA however never approved the combination drug for weight loss. It had however approved both drugs by themselves and once this is done, physicians are able to prescribe combinations for their patients for purposes such as this. This is considered off label use and is a very common practice for many drugs prescribed today.
There were later issues with Fen-Phen when reports started coming in. It appeared that some women had developed pulmonary hypertension and heart valve issues while using the weight loss pills. This was taking place either during usage or afterwards. The FDA banned the drug combination at a later date due to these problems. The single drug Phentermine is still considered safe for use by itself for weight loss and continues to be a very popular choice for dieters today.
Today there is a new combination diet prescription being produced and used. It is called Phen-Pro. It is a combination of the Phentermine diet pill and Prozac which is an antidepressant. There has been a lot of research done on emotional eating and the amount of serotonin in the brain being responsible for binge eating so adding an antidepressant to the combination is a logical choice for dieters in today’s world
So how does this drug work exactly in weight loss? As stated above it works like a synthetic ephedrine. It mimics an amphetamine by increasing the heart rate in a person when taken. The drug also decreases a person’s appetite. It works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland which regulates the autonomic nervous system. This regulates the normal cycles of the body such as temperature, sleep habits, and appetite. By increasing both the hypothalamus and the heart rate and blood flow of the body, the person feels that they have a lot more energy than they had previously. This aids them in getting more exercise and activity in their daily living. This also helps them to have other things on their mind instead of being fixated on food all the time. Most obese people are sedentary and they need to change their habits and routines as well as their eating and their thinking.
Most people tend to have less energy when they start eating less on a diet. By taking that factor away and out of the mixture, the diet pill allows the dieter to have a better chance of being successful with their new routines without feeling hungry all the time or being low on energy levels.
Due to the fact that this drug works on the level as an amphetamine it can be considered addictive if taken for long periods of time so it should be taken for short periods of time except in rare cases. People should be under the care of a medical professional while using any type of prescription medication and diet program such as this and should consult with their physician to make sure a program such as this is safe for them to use.
