We will refer to this product under one name or the other. Phendimetrazine is the active component of a prescription product known as Bontril. It is an amphetamine based ingredient, which works by stimulating the central nervous system. Therefore, it naturally suppresses appetite in the process, much like caffeine would in higher amounts. The dfference is, this isn’t a side effect with Bontril, it’s the desired effect.

Bontril basically increases blood pressure, heart rate, and other nervous system parts. So if you have any medical condition commonly related to obesity such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, kidney damage, or really any other medical condition, you should not take this product. It could make those problems worse.

Bontril is not to be used outside of the regular supervision of a trained medical professional. It can be extremely dangerous, and it can quickly become addictive. So if you have a history of addiction or drugs, this would not be a product to even begin to consider, especially if related specifically to amphetamines.

Bontril and other amphetamine based products tend to work for a while and then stop working. So should this happen to you, don’t overreact. Just stop taking the product. DO NOT increase the dosage as it will not increase or produce new benefits if it stops working or from the start for that matter.

Some common side effects to expect with Bontril include restlessness, blurred vision, dizziness, extreme tiredness, and otherwise. If you experience these, do not operate heavy machinery. But they are not that serious, they are rather expected as a cost of results. Otherwise, you may also experience things such as nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, dry mouth, unpleasant taste in the mouth, impotence, or change in the sex drive.

However, should you experience serious side effects such as swelling, sudden and rapid weight gain, allergic reaction, it stops working, you become dependent, psychosis, complete cessation of appetite, rapid heart rate, etc, you should stop taking this product as you have gotten into some of the more serious side effects.

When taking Bontril, it is safer than some other prescriptions such as Phentermine for example. But that does not make it safe by any means. Also, it is not as effective as prescription Phentermine, which poses a serious problem for many individuals looking into prescriptions. However, whatever diet pill you may be taking, including Bontril, should be combined with a regular diet and exercise program.

If you are taking Bontril or another prescription, you will generally meet with a nutritionist and your doctor will advise you on how to make long term lifestyle changes and therefore lose weight both while you are taking this supplement and in the future as this is only for very short term use.
