Perricone MD Skincare Reviews

We lump this product line into one group, because it can all be summed up in one review in some ways.  Basically speaking, the Perricone line is based on Dr Perricone’s fame due to his appearance on the Oprah show way back when.  He’s also a qualified dermatologist.  But as we have learned from Proactiv, that doesn’t really mean much of anything.  But of course, we all love Dr Perricone and his top 10 superfoods, which by the way is also disprovable considering they are not the most powerful in the ways he says they are, the classic example being acai, which has a lower antioxidant measurement than the common blueberry.

But this in mind, he is a dermatologist, so we would hope he would know more about that particular brand of products.  And we would hope that he would’ve done more research and gone beyond the usual, spending a little more money because obviously, for his name, he’s charging A LOT more money. So are you paying for his name or for an actual product?

We would say you’re paying entirely for his name.  Why?  Because he only uses the most common ingredients that you will find in every other cheap product on the market! Yes, we said it.  Proactiv is fairly cheap, but middle of the road at $19.99.  Their product is pretty much the same as his if not better.  Other products like Clean & Clear which generally sell at about $5 are comparable to his products.

He uses ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.  Every once in a while, he uses retinol, a form of vitamin A.  And once in a blue moon, he uses tea tree oil, though he never reveals the amount used of any of these, making us wonder if they would even possibly be effective.  Most of the time, they use benzoyl peroxide, which of course has been known to cause feeling of warmth, dryness, feeling of warmth, itching, irritation, mild peeling, redness, swelling of the skin, and dermatitis among other things.

But all in all, the important thing to remember is that prescriptions generally don’t use the high prices he use, and that’s a bit excessive to say the least.  Then there’s the fact that he uses all the most common and basic ingredients used in most prescription and over the counter competitors in undisclosed and small amounts, and yet he multiplies their costs to say the least.

We would not recommend Perricone MD Skincare! If it were $5, we might consider it just because at $5, how wrong can you really go on the price.  Pending of course it doesn’t have some really dangerous chemical that would burn your face off, using benzoyl peroxide would be appropriate at that price.  And it would be expected.  However, when you’re paying much more for any product, you accordingly expect more, and obviously Perricone MD Skincare doesn’t really understand that.
