Michael Jordan vs Bryon Russell 1 on 1 HOAX

MJ vs Bryon Russell 1 on 1 at half time of Utah Flash Game – Biggest Scam Ever!

Today I experienced the biggest rip-off of my entire life, involving some big shot NBA players and C-class scammers. There is a youtube video taken with either a cellphone or a low-quality digital camera that captures an image of two bodyguards through half-concealed lenses. A voice calls out “Are you here to play with Bryon Russell?” and the recording starts to shake while two bodyguards tackle this poor spectator supposedly trying to meet Michael Jordon eating lunch at Mimi’s Café in Orem, UT.

Now if you’re hyped, imagine how much more excited we Utahns were when we heard that Michael Jordan was in Orem to play out the infamous offer made by —, the owner of the Utah Flash basketball team: — would donate $100,000 to any charity designated by the winner of a 1 on 1 match between Michael Jordan and Bryon Russell.

The Utah Flash is a minor basketball league team that most people don’t even know exists. They are lucky to have maybe.. 200 people show up to their games. Tonight, the 5,000 seat auditorium was sold out! Any idiot can figure out that at least 90% of those people came to see Michael Jordan, not the Utah Flash. Of course, I had some doubts, but when I called in to buy tickets, the ticket vendor replied to my questions with, “Most likely he’ll be there.”

Now if that didn’t nail the door of the coffin shut, I don’t know what part of this evening did. Oh wait, maybe it was the fact that Bryon Russell was actually there. They started the event with clips of Michael Jordan’s famous shot in 1998 and ESPN announcers discussing —-‘s offer. They turned off the lights and put on the spotlight and Russell came out putting on quite a show with his gym shorts, beer belly, and a really loud microphone. He called out for Michael to come out and ‘bring it on.’

And after much anticipation, he finally came out.

Except the man who came out was a ridiculous 5’8” imposter with a bald head (not shaved) with tacky, chunky silver earrings. He even had fake bodyguards to boot and staged cameramen. Jaws dropped and ‘boos’ ensued like a never-ending echo.

How tacky is that?!! People wouldn’t have been half as mad about wasting money on crap tickets if they had just told everyone at the game that Michael wasn’t coming. But they went as far as staging a ridiculous show with a fake that looked more like a hairless Martin Lawrence than a legit basketball player. I mean, it’s like having Eminem at a concert telling the audience that Tupac Shakur was still alive and was going to join him onstage, but a random African-American man walks onstage pretending to be Tupac.

And what the hell is wrong with Bryon Russell?? He was an okay player in his day, but we all know he was never in the spotlight like Michael. But was he THAT desperate to get his 5 minutes of fame? I don’t know if he was paid to show up tonight, but all I know is that he made a fool of himself and vaporized his already lame career.

My brother, the guy who goes crazy in buying NBA Finals tickets, had tickets to a Jazz game tonight – they were playing against the San Antonio Spurs. He could have been watching a pretty good game. Instead, he gave up his time and extra money for a chance to see Michael Jordan. But all he got was a lame show. There were 10 year olds who came to see their hero, hoping for a glimpse of this legendary man. 10 minutes in and we had parents calling their spouses about how disappointed their child was about this SCAM.

YES, THIS WAS AN OUTRIGHT SCAM. Posting a Youtube video. Staging a show. Telling ticket buyers that Michael was likely to show? Do you know how we label things like this? PRODUCT NOT AS DESCRIBED. RETURN PROMPTLY FOR A FULL REFUND.

WE WANT COMPENSATION. No, we don’t want free tickets to another Flash game. That’s like taking our money and then spitting in our faces. The LEAST they should do is give us ALL OUR FREAKIN’ MONEY BACK. — may have made a lot of money through this classlass act, but I’m sure he’ll spending it all plus more to appease thousands of livid viewers who wasted a perfectly fine evening on this stupid hoax.

  1. I concur 100%. I will never EVER go to another UTAH FLASH game again. What a RIPOFF!! I had tickets to the Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio game. I had $128 tickets! And I gave them away KNOWING that MJ was in town because of their FALSE promotions.

When I bought my tickets over the phone the telemarketer told me that he was “Likely” to show. LIARS!!!

  2. Anyone up for a class action lawsuit. I think they owe us for tickets plus damages. I am reporting the Utah Flash to the FTC. This is the worst… They were telling us all throughout the game that this was coming up at halftime. Man, they intended to deceive and now it is time for them to pay.
