Leptopril

Leptopril is attempting to corner the market on weight loss supplements for the severely obese. For the severely, or morbidly obese (those people who are 100 pounds or more above their ideal weight with body mass indexes of 30 or more), Leptopril’s website presents a very understanding tone. The website states that the makers of Leptopril understand your needs. They also understand that diet and exercise are not always enough to help you lose weight, especially if you are 100 pounds or more over weight. They also discuss the genetic predispositions which you may be suffering as a result of and that take away your choice in the obesity matter. Leptopril states that it was the very first weight loss supplement that was designed specifically for the severely obese. But, the ingredients for Leptopril tell another story.
If you have ever done any research on weight loss supplements then there are certain ingredients you have probably seen over and over. Green tea, yerba mate, guarana and others all seem to be the top selling herbs of the moment. Leptopril’s ingredients seem to mirror the ingredients of all other supplements, even those that are not promoted as being specially formulated for the severely obese. Let’s take a look at the ingredients they list as having a place in their proprietary formula:
Yerba Mate (Leaf) SE, Guarana (Seed) SE, Caffiene, Damania (Leaf) SE, L-Tyrpsine, Acetylsalicylic acid, Green Tea (Leaf) SE, Kola Nut SE, Eucommia (bark), Schizonepeta (spica) SE, Piper Nigrum (fruit), Hoelen (aerial parts), Polygonum )root), Turmeric (rhizome)
Now, do any of those herbs sound familiar to you? First off, yerba mate and guarana have large amounts of caffeine in them (guarana has 5 times the amount of caffeine as a coffee bean), green tea also has caffeine. Oh, and caffeine is also one of the ingredients- but undisguised by fancy herbal names. This massive dose of caffeine can be very damaging and can cause many side effects. You could find yourself feeling jittery, unable to sleep at night and suffering gastro intestinal disturbances. All in the interest of losing weight without diet and exercise. Actually, with as sick as all this caffeine may make you feel, you may reduce your calories from your inability to ingest food.
The makers of Leptopril stress that this weight loss supplement is not for those who want to lose a small amount of weight. This is for people who need to lose 50 or more pounds. Since their formula is proprietary, it is impossible to know whether the amount of each ingredient is the same as it is in other supplements. It could be that the makers of Leptopril have chosen to put more of one ingredient and less of another in their supplement. This could be the difference and explain why it is for severely obese rather than vanity weight loss.
Leptopril claims to keep excess sugar out of the blood, but doesn’t really explain how it does this. They mention some clinical studies that showed Leptopril worked even when the study participants did not exercise. Unfortunately, these studies are not published- so it is impossible to determine their results. The Food and Drug Administration has not supported or backed up any of the claims made by Leptopril.
Remember to have a discussion with your primary care physician before adding any supplements like Leptopril to your diet or before starting any new diet and exercise habits. Your health is important and you should always take the time to make sure the decisions you, make are healthy before you begin integrating them into your life.
