Otherwise known as benzphetamine, Didrex is a prescription medication that helps you to supposedly achieve results.  Basically speaking, it effectively speaking stimulates the central nervous system, helping you to ultimately suppress appetite.  It comes from a class of ingredients known as amphetamines, and this particular product has been known to increase blood pressure and heart rate in the process.

However, it isn’t the most popular options.  The most popular prescription is actually known as Phentermine.  So why isn’t Didrex more popular? Because to be completely honest, it’s not nearly as effective.  Yes, it does suppress appetite, for a few weeks anyway, just like Phentermine.  But Phentermine, despite all its side effects, promotes greatly improved results even above Didrex, a similarly built product.

So where did Didrex come from?  Didrex is produced by Pfizer, and it was actually originally produced by a company named Pharmacia.  However, in 2003, it was sold to Pfizer.  Since then, it has been relatively popular, using about 50mg of benzphetamine hydrochloride.  Otherwise, it uses calcium stearate, corn starch, erythrosine sodium FD & C, yellow No 6, lactose, povidone, and sorbitol.

One might also ask, are there any risks to Didrex, and the answer would be yes.  Didrex has been known to cause multiple side effects as an amphetamine including palpitations, tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, overstimulation, restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, tremors, sweating, headaches, psychotic episodes, depression following drug withdrawal, dependency, gastrointestinal issues, dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, nausea, diarrhea, urticaria and other allergic reactions with the skin, endocrine, and changes in libido.  So obviously speaking, it is not really considered to be safe necessarily speaking?

So why would anybody want to take something that is less effective than another product AND it causes all of these side effects! It simply doesn’t make any sense, right?  Well realistically speaking, it’s because when it comes right down to it, it is safer.  We know, it sounds a little curious considering the part about psychosis, heart problems, etc.  But realistically speaking, while Phentermine is the most effective, it’s also the most dangerous.  So all in all, obviously speaking there is reason why people use this.

We wouldn’t recommend Didrex.  Saying that it’s safer than Phentermine is really not saying much of anything, and realistically speaking, it’s really not saying anything considering they have maybe one less side effect to speak of.  However, the difference in actual results is huge, and they require a bigger amount, which is not a good thing.
