Cod liver oil

Cod liver oil is one of the super foods that many people never seem to talk about. It is very rich in Omega 3 fatty acids that are responsible for mental health, brain function, cognition, improved memory, as well as elevating moods and improving a person’s concentration. Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown as well to work very hard to help the body function optimally in many other ways. For example, these fatty acids help to oxygenate the blood stream. Regular doses of cod liver oil are said to reduce the amount of cardiovascular disease and heart disease in particular. The fatty acids and vitamins also work to help increase mineral absorption and build better muscle tissue in the body. The oil helps to deposit itself on the blood vessels which helps them to be more elastic and less likely to become hardened as with coronary artery disease.

This oil has been shown in studies to help reduce risk factors for high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, insulin resistance, and adult onset diabetes. The Omega 3 fatty acids also assist with brain function that was mentioned above.

Cod liver oil has been used in some countries by medical personnel to reverse the effects of rickets as well as to prevent the formation of them. It is also being used to prevent osteomalacia and deformed bone formation in these children and later in their adult life as well.

This oil has been shown to be helpful in the prevention of certain types of cancer. One study in China showed that using cod liver oil helped to prevent the occurrence of childhood leukemia. Other studies show that high doses of Vitamin A have been very helpful as an alternative therapy for the prevention and treatment of certain types of cancers. In Norway a study was done and showed that regular doses of cod liver oil helped to prevent the occurrence of cases of lung cancer. With all the nutritional aspects and benefits that cod liver oil provides to the daily diet it seems that it would be a very good supplement to add to a persons diet for good health.
