Appetite Suppressants

Appetite suppressants are meant to do exactly what their name states. These pills, tablets, or whatever they may be are designed to suppress your appetite, thus helping you eat less. In fancier words, appetite suppressants create a feeling of satiety and control your desire to eat, which leads to weight loss through the control of fat, carbohydrates, calories, and overall food intake.

The simple trick behind appetite suppressants are performed in the brain. Specific neurotransmitters are stimulated to make you feel full while neurotransmitters than signal signs of hunger are blocked.

For those struggling to lose weight because you can’t say ‘no’ to food, exercising probably won’t be your solution. If you can’t cut down the amount you eat (and what you eat), you won’t see a change in your weight. Most people think changing their diet will help. Technically it can. If you’re eating more vegetables and less fatty food, you can shed pounds. However, if you’re eating a significantly larger portion of vegetables (because you’re hungrier from the lack of fatty foods), then the whole plan is moot. Though you may be eating healthier food, you’re eating just as much as before. This means you’re not going to lose any weight!

Appetite suppressants will curb your hunger, no matter what you eat. Look for these common ingredients below.

Citrus Aurantium: Citrus Aurantium is considered a harmless alternative to ephedra and so is used often in many weight loss supplements. Also called Bitter Orange rinds or Synephrine, the latter name can often be found in products that used to employ ephedra.

Hoodia Gordonii: This ingredient is one of the most popular, natural ingredients for appetite suppressants. Hoodia Gordonii is native to Africa and has been used there for hundreds of years to fight hunger.

Phenyl-tertiary-butylamine: This prescription appetite suppressant is also known as Phentermine HCL. With FDA approval since the ’50s, this chemical is found in many weight loss products.

CitriMax(HCA): Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is almost a staple when it comes to weight loss products. It is extracted from the rind of the Indian Garcinia Cambogia fruit. Studies show HCA’s ability to prevent the conversion process of carbohydrates to fat. This occurs when it inhibits the ATP-Citrate Lyase enzyme.

Green Tea Extract: This is often found in products as EGCG – Epigallo Catechin Gallate.

Garcinia Cambogia: Composed largely of hydroxycitric acid, Garcinia cambogia increases serotonin to reduce appetite.
